Valerie Gill’s path to buying a four-bedroom house at Baker Estates’ popular development in Callington all started when her friend Cynthia mentioned how happy she was after moving into the development two years ago.
Valerie, 80, was living three miles away in a 150-year-old cottage, but didn’t want the continued hassle, expense and maintenance of an older property. She had looked at some of the bigger new build housing estates, in the area, but she didn’t like any of them.
However, Baker Estates’ Meadowbrook was different as she explained: “My friend Cynthia was so enthusiastic about her home here. I wanted to move somewhere with access to shops and amenities and I was impressed with Meadowbrook’s location. I wanted a bungalow but the one I really liked had been sold. So I was encouraged to view a Rosemary four-bedroom house which I hadn’t considered but immediately fell in love with the position, views of the countryside and the interiors.
“My son, who’s in the building trade, lives with me and initially wasn’t keen. But after a visit, he changed his mind and was impressed with the quality of the build. We reserved the property and haven’t looked back.”
Valerie added: “The interiors are lovely, and we have a very spacious kitchen and my favourite room – the sitting room – has two windows with views of the rolling countryside.
“The garden is a perfect size – not too big and I’m looking forward to getting out there and putting my personal touch to it. I’m so happy and love everything about our new home. The sales team have also been wonderful and helped make the move easy for me.
“Of course, the icing on the cake was when both Cynthia and I received £500 as part of the refer a friend scheme that Baker Estates advertised! It’s encouraging us to tell even more people about Meadowbrook!”
Meadowbrook is set within a natural wildlife habitat comprising six acres of beautiful green space. Callington, with a good bus service, is within convenient access to Plymouth and close to the coastal beaches of Looe and Seaton.
