Little Cotton Farm, Dartmouth shortlisted for Property ‘Oscar’ for Best Development

Baker Estates has been nominated for a prestigious national award considered by the industry as the property ‘Oscars’.

The top-rated South West housebuilder has been short listed in the ‘Best Development’ category by Housebuilder magazine for its Little Cotton Farm development in Dartmouth.

Local architects, Clifton Emery, designed a range of two, three, four and five-bedroom semi and detached homes, apartments as well as bungalows that were in keeping with the local vernacular.

Baker Estates has, so far, delivered 150 quality, new homes (including 83 affordable homes) for local people to live in and has won over the majority of local people with a vision for design and placemaking which was aligned to the town and the location of the site.

Little Cotton Farm boasts views across rolling countryside and to the sea, so Baker Estates felt it was vital to respect the setting in both an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty and the local community of Dartmouth.

Baker Estates will be attending the awards ceremony at the Intercontinental Hotel at the O2, London in October.

Ian Baker, Managing Director of Baker Estates, said: “We are delighted to be shortlisted for a national industry award again. This is a huge team effort and the culmination of lots of hard work over the last few years. We’ll look forward to the evening in October but we will be up against some very strong national competition in this category.”

Graham Hutton, Deputy Managing Director at Baker Estates, added: “We pride ourselves on how we go about our business and in this case that meant great care and effort expended consulting with local stakeholders. Our design responded to this and, as a result, planning permission was obtained with the full support of the local parish and community, something unheard of for developments of this scale. We are delighted that Little Cotton Farm has already become part of the community rather than a new, modern appendage.

“As well as being a commercial success, it is gratifying how our relationships with our neighbours, the parish council and local community has been enhanced during the build of the development.”

The development offers a stunning collection of 2, 3, 4, and 5 bedroom homes and bungalows. For more information www.bakerestatesltd.co.uk/development/dartmouth-devon
