My wife and I grew up in Kingsteignton, we agreed that we wanted to raise our two girls in the area. We spent many months looking at properties both online, and in person around Kingsteignton and the immediate surrounding area. Having owned several properties individually over the last 10 years, now with a family, and our eldest, Harriet attending Kingsteignton Primary School, we knew it was time to both find, and buy our family home together in Kingsteignton.
We first learnt of a possible development on the previous Kingsteignton Community Resource Centre near St. Michaels Church in February 2017. We married at St. Michael’s church and both our daughters were christened there, this development really excited us. We managed to get hold of the site plans for a development named ‘Greenhill’ by Baker Estates. We were immediately impressed with the arrangements of the homes and loved that it was a smaller development.
We set our hearts on Plot 11 and secured a priority appointment for the Open Day for ‘Greenhill’.
We familiarised ourselves with the price lists for the different plots. We were really excited to see that Plot 11 was still available, however the price was just a little over our budget and we knew we wouldn’t be able to secure a mortgage for the required amount.
Having researched the ‘Help To Buy Scheme’ we were sceptic at first however, as we learned more about the scheme we realised that this could be a way of securing the home we had set our hearts on. We talked with the New Homes Mortgage Helpline and decided we wanted to utilise the ‘Help To Buy Scheme’. We paid the reservation fee for plot 11 at the Open day and were ecstatic and a little in disbelief that we had secured our perfect family home! Using the ‘Help To Buy Scheme’ was a really positive experience for us and we believe it is a great way for people to get the home they want/need with a little help from the government when they need it the most. The customer service was fantastic, any questions were answered and correspondence was very efficient.
We have now completed on Plot 11, moved in and are settling in just great. The quality of the finish is great inside and we love the exterior too. It’s almost identical to the artists’ impression we fell in love with 12 months ago! Our daughters Harriet & Violet love their new bedrooms and our youngest, Violet especially loves being able to follow mummy around the open plan living space downstairs!
It is of our opinion that Baker Estates have done ‘fantastically’ with the ‘Greenhill’ development in Kingsteignton so far.
