Baker Estates score a hat-trick of Pride in the Job awards for a third year running

For the third year in a row, three site managers at Baker Estates have won a NHBC Pride in the Job Award.

Robin Palmer at Hayne Farm in Honiton, Mike McLeod at Bee Meadow in South Molton and Steve Hobden at Little Cotton Farm, Dartmouth have all been given this prestigious industry accolade in recognition of their commitment to quality and impeccable site management.

The competition is dedicated to recognising site managers who achieve the very highest standards in house building. From a field of more than 11,000, 450 UK site managers have won a Quality Award in the first round of NHBC’s Pride in the Job Awards 2021, representing the top four percent of those who entered.

Ian Baker, managing director at Baker Estates, said: “Being selected as one of the UK’s top site managers is a testament to their commitment to delivering quality homes for our customers. Pride in the Job is the most highly regarded competition in the house-building industry, and we are delighted for Mike, Steve and Robin.

“A special mention must also go to Robin who has now won four awards in just five years.”

Ian added: “I know all three site managers would want to thank every single member of the Baker Estates team for supporting their individual successes, as without the teamwork and commitment, these awards would not have been possible.”

Robin said: “It’s very satisfying to be recognised by NHBC. I take an enormous amount of pride in every site I work on and see this as very much a team award.”

Judging for the Awards is rigorous, the current competition began in 2021, with each site manager assessed across six key areas including consistency, attention to detail, leadership, interpretation of drawings and specifications, technical expertise, and health and safety.

Commenting on the awards, NHBC Chief Executive Steve Wood said: “Pride in the Job has been pivotal in improving the quality of new homes so it’s fantastic to be able to continue to celebrate these awards.”
