Seven local households are set to start the New Year in a new home, thanks to a partnership between Baker Estates and Teign Housing.
Newton Abbot based housebuilder, Baker Estates, has worked closely with Teign Housing since 2017 providing exceptional affordable homes in Totnes. The final new customers can now start their move as the housebuilder has handed over the last of 27 affordable homes built on the development.
The award-winning development, Great Court Farm, in Totnes, comprises of traditional houses, barn style bungalows and town houses. The last seven affordable homes, all of which were offered for shared ownership to people with a local connection to Devon, have recently been handed over to Teign Housing.
Jo Reece, chief executive of Teign Housing said: “We are committed to helping people into affordable, quality accommodation. We have pledged to build or purchase some 76 new homes this year, and partnerships with the likes of Baker Estates is essential in enabling this vision to be realised.
“The scheme has proven very popular, with only one of the properties remaining available, evidencing the strong need for more affordable homes. This shared ownership option gives people the chance to get on the housing ladder, and to purchase a greater share of their home as their career and income increases. I hope all the new occupants enjoy their new home and community.”
Baker Estates’ managing director, Ian Baker, said: “Not only has our development provided much needed affordable homes in Totnes, the development as a whole, has also created inward investment into the town, including jobs for local people.”
Ian added: “We are proud to be in an ongoing partnership with Teign Housing, delivering high quality homes that will be enjoyed for generations to come.”
