Baker Estates Declares Support For Local Dementia Support Alliance

The Honiton Dementia Action Alliance is seeking to improve the lives of families living with dementia by raising awareness about Admiral Nursing. They are working tirelessly to inspire individuals and organisations to raise funds for the campaign within the local community. There are about 200 people living in the Honiton area with a diagnosis of dementia. And those who are living with dementia know only too well that it can affect families, friends, neighbours and indeed whole communities.

Baker Estates is currently developing a new 5 year housing project located in Hayne Lane, Honiton - which will see the delivery of much needed housing for the area. In total, 291 homes will be built comprising 2, 3, 4 bedroom homes. The developer has pledged to donate to the Alliance scheme £100 for each home that sells at Hayne Farm. This will be an on-going support programme throughout the life of the project, and once completed the total contribution by Baker Estates to the Alliance will total over £20,000.

The management team at Baker Estates were only too delighted to enter into a support partnership with the campaign, to help provide a dedicated Specialist Dementia Nurse who will be solely responsible for supporting the residents of Honiton.

“As a company we are delighted to support the local communities in which we operate. We try to assist wherever there is a need. The Honiton Dementia Action Alliance is a hugely important service for the community of Honiton and we are only too willing to be able to contribute towards the costs of securing an Admiral Nurse”.

Ian Baker, Managing Director – Baker Estates

“Since launching the campaign to have our own Admiral Nurse for Honiton, we have been humbled by the commitment we have received from our community. By the end of 2018 we will have the specialist dementia support for families that is so desperately needed.  Going forward we now have the unending task of keeping our nurse in post for as long as is required. This can only be done with the long-term help from those who believe in our cause and we are extremely grateful to Baker Estates for pledging to support us in this way. Many families locally will benefit from Honiton Admiral Nurse and with significant help such as this we feel confident that we will be able to continue helping people through difficult times well on into the foreseeable future”.
