The organisers of the Port of Dartmouth Royal Regatta are delighted to announce that local award-winning housebuilder Baker Estates have jumped ‘onboard’ as Platinum Sponsors for 2021.
Baker Estates was founded by Managing Director Ian Baker in 2015, together with Chairman Greg Fitzgerald. The company builds homes of outstanding quality in superb locations throughout the South West. They are currently developing the first phase of Little Cotton Farm in Dartmouth including a selection of 3, 4 & 5 bedroomed houses and bungalows.
They will be in good company with joint Platinum Sponsor, Salcombe Gin, another local brand synonymous with the highest quality products.
Dartmouth Regatta could not take place without the generosity of its sponsors and donors. It costs over £150,000 to stage the event, all run by volunteers, and with no grants or subsidies.
Ian Baker is not only passionate about building the very best homes, but he is also passionate about sport, particularly in encouraging the younger generation to participate in all levels of activities.
In 2019, Baker Estates sponsored a new Regatta cup ‘The Baker Estates Trophy’ to be awarded annually to the junior individual or crew who demonstrate “outstanding effort, performance, courage or sportsmanship” during the junior rowing events.
This cup sits alongside two other special awards during Regatta week, ‘The Harry Spencer Memorial Trophy’ presented for the most outstanding effort in any sport during Regatta, and ‘The Tracy White Cup’, awarded to an Under 16 who shows the true spirit of the Regatta as Tracy did with her outstanding sense of fair play.
Ian commented, “As a local business, we are delighted to be a Platinum Sponsor for such a historic event, which is enjoyed by so many, in Dartmouth. We are very proud to leave a legacy with our Baker Estates Trophy, which we hope will encourage children in the community to take up rowing.”
Dartmouth has a very meaningful connection with Baker Estates, as Chairman Greg Fitzgerald was brought up in the town, and many of his family and friends still live in the area.
The Baker Estates marquee will be located on the Boat float during the Regatta week from Wednesday 25th – Saturday 28th August.
