Anti-Slavery Policy
At Baker Estates, we believe in upholding ethical standards in every aspect of our business, including the prevention of slavery and human trafficking. We understand that these are serious human rights issues and are committed to taking necessary steps to mitigate the risk of these violations within our organization and supply chain.
As a house builder operating in the UK, we recognize that various areas of our operations could be affected by modern slavery and human trafficking. These include our directly hired employees, agency workers, subcontractor operatives, and the workforce of our supply chain who supply materials to our business. Therefore, we take the following measures to mitigate these risks:
For employees, we ensure that they have the right to work in the UK and are provided with written confirmation of their employment terms and conditions. We also strictly prohibit the use of forced labour and offer training on modern slavery to all employees.
When engaging agency workers, we aim to only work with those provided by suppliers on our Preferred Supplier List. These suppliers must confirm that their workers have the right to work in the UK and have procedures in place to prevent forced or compulsory labour.
For subcontractors, we require that they ensure their employees have the right to work in the UK and consider their approach to employee rights when selecting them. We also ask all subcontractors to commit to ensuring that there is no slavery or trafficking in their supply chain.
Finally, we procure most of our directly sourced materials from UK-based organisations that comply with UK laws on forced labour. For materials sourced from outside the UK, we carefully consider the risk of modern slavery and human trafficking as part of our selection process. We also ask all suppliers to make a commitment to ensure that there is no slavery or trafficking in their supply chain. At Baker Estates, we believe that everyone should be treated with dignity and respect and will continue to take every measure to uphold these values.
